So Many people not only go there to enjoy it but also to pray for peace.

1,Vung Chua –  Yen (swallow)Island

Vung Chua – Yen (swallow) Island located at the foot of the Hoanh Son range, about 10km from the poetic Ngang Pass to the southeast. From Tho Son peak looked toward the sea is the magnificent natural scenery, peaceful seawater clouds. Being surrounded by the three islands of Hon La, Hon Gio and Hon Nom (Swallow Island), Vung Chua area is pretty airtight, where is the shelter for many boats during storms.

Along with Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, Vung Chua – Yen Island where General Vo Nguyen Giap, a Vietnamese hero, rested in peace also attracts ten thousands of tourists from throughout the country. With creative steps and flexible methods, since early 2014 to now, Quang Binh has welcomed 2.5 millions of tourists, increasing over 140% compared to that of the same period last year. It is expected that Quang Binh Province will become an attractive destinations for tourists all over the country as well as international friends.

2, Eight Ladies cave

Eight ladies cave (Tam co cave) is an aghast historical relic of the sacrifice of eight youth volunteers to keep the north-south route Smoothly. The cave is on the 20th road – part of the legendary Truong Son Road, in Tan Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province. At here, US bombing raids day and night to cut off the North’s supplies to the South.

During the American War, the area was a target of fierce aerial bombardments of the American to stop the northern reinforcement to the southern front-line. This place marked the sacrifice of the volunteer youth during their attempt to keep the transport route clear. On November 14, 1972, violent bomb attacks were frenziedly dropped down to the land, a huge stone of 1000 tons collapsed to lock 8 voluntary youths inside the cave. Nine days after that, there was no hope for saving their comrades, all 8 voluntary youths sacrificed.

Next to the cave, there is a temple to commemorate the people sacrificed on the 20th road 

Today, “Tam Co” cave (Eight Lady cave) has become a spiritual tourism destination for travelers. Every day there are hundreds of  tourists visit this cave. They burn incense and remember the merit of the soldiers.

3 Lieu Hanh Temple.

The temple has become a centre for cultural and religious activities of both the local people and visitors.  Lieu Hanh Mother Goddess is one of the four immortals and also a leading figure in the mother goddess cult, in which she governs the celestial realm.

A temple to worship Lieu Hanh Mother Goddess is about 300 metres in the southwest of Hoanh Son gate. The temple, built in 1557 (the post-Le dynasty), faces the East Sea. During Tet (lunar traditional New Year Festival), local fishermen burned incenses at the temple and pray for luck. The temple has an area of about 335 square meters with a unique architecture, expressing the solemnity of the temple.

4, Chua Non – Than Dinh Mountain

The Than Dinh Mountain range in the western Quang Binh central province. It bears an imposing beauty of a landscape painting. Tourists to Quang Binh should call at the Than Dinh (Dinh God) Mountain which is famous for “numerous fairies and Buddha”. The mountain range has served as a screen to shield the hard-working people in western Quang Binh for ages.

In the evening, tourists call at Van Kieu ethnic families. By the camp fire, tourists have a chance to enjoy Truong Xuan fried peanuts, Rao Da baked maize, Vo Xa wine, and Than Dinh mountain goat meat and beef. Chua Non – Than Dinh Mountain. This pagoda attracts numerous visitors to burn incense and pray for peace, good health and prosperity.

5, Me Suot Statue

Born on the Van Chai, Phu My village (currently My Canh village, Bao Ninh ward) in 1906, Me Suot had to face with many difficulties. She had to be a servant for rich families for 18 years. After August Revolution, she got married and had three children (2 daughters, 1 son). Then, she made a living by ferrying on Nhat Le river. From 1964-1966, the war became more severe since American air force intensified bombing activities. At the age of 60, Me Suot still voluntarily worked as a ferry woman under the mission of delivering officers, wounded soldier and weapons across the river. Each year from that period of time, it was estimated that she carried 1,400 times even under heavy bombardments. In 1968, she sacrificed after a bombardment.

On 2003, the statue was inaugurated as a symbol of courageousness of not only Quang Binh people but also Vietnamese women. Looking to the Nhat Le river, Me Suot statue was sculptured right at the ferry where the woman used to deliver weapons as well as soldiers cross the river.

The Quang Binh Tourism Department said that they would combine daily tours to the caves: Tu Lan, Paradise, Phong Nha – Ke Bang, Chay river – Dark Cave … with the film studio- “Kong: Skull Island “. The new tours will make visitors feel different, attractive.

Yen Phu is a peaceful village, with green fields, majestic natural scenery.

When making the film at Yen Phu lake, the film needs more 30 cars to build the camp on a large area. When the crew left, the place was clean and there was no garbage.

Hang Chuoc is located in Tan Hoa Commune, Minh Hoa District, which was chosen as the cave of “Kong: Skull Island”. The cave is 500 m wide and deep, with many stalagmites and stalactites.

Cha Noi valley on Da Deo Pass is a majestic destination chosen for the monumental film sceneries of King Kong.

Da Deo Pass belongs to the Phong Nha – Ke Bang,  the Unesco World Natural Heritage site with the mountains. Under the pass is Cha Noi valley with wild landscape of rivers and streams, surrounded by imposing rocky mountains with fanciful clouds.

Nearly 30 years ago, a British woman was with her husband and the expedition. They have explored millions of kilometers through the forest, swum through hundreds of kilometers above the underground river … to come to Son Doong.

That woman is Debora, Howard Limbert‘s wife – the team leader of the British Cave Research Association.

In the 5 th may 2015, after nearly 30 years with searching, exploring and studying caves in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park (Quang Binh), Mr Howard recieved “Third Class Labor Medal” by the President. AT the award, Mr. Howard Limbert thanked to Mrs Debora – his wife, who is also the only woman of the expedition have been with him for almost 30 years to find and discover hundreds large and small caves in Phong Nha – Ke Bang.

In 1990, That was the first time the British expedition have explored the caves of Phong Nha – Ke Bang, the people here were very impressed. Because among the expedition more than a dozen people, there is only one woman. “That day, Mrs. Debora was very young and beautiful. But like other members of the expedition, she still had to carry many kilograms of devices on the back and through the forest, searched caves lasted for months. We really admire her “- a long-time staff workin in the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park recalled.

Howard also shared many times, he did not expect to get his wife, a trusted partner like that. “I am extremely lucky to have her share the caving hobby. She is always with me, cares for me, and comes to everywhere I come in all the adventure expedition “- Mr Howard told lovingly.

Morever, Ms. Debora is a real expert of geodesy and mapping of caves, a member indispensable in the expedition. “For people to be able to visualize the shape of the cave system in Phong Nha – Ke Bang, Debora directly seted up field mapping, as well as helped experts to make 3D models.  And to have a ” 150km cave road ” in Phong Nha as everyone knows, her hard work is great “- Mr. Howard said.

Mrs Debora was the one who directly work with the largest news agencies in the world such as BBC, CNN, the cast and crew from Hong Kong, Britain, the United States … “leading the way” for them to Son Doong. And since then, the wonders, the stunning beauty of Son Doong has made millions of hearts sobbing and decide to discover …

This year already at the age of 57, but her enthusiasm about the trip through the forest to find new caves has not reduced. “I remember trips at the end of 2015 and the beginning of 2016 (57 caves have discovered), when the whole expedition came into together these areas without water, must learn to take water from the trunk taught by local people. We also see the huge bombs left over from the war … Now I just hope to have lots of health to continue to explore, look for more new caves “- Mrs. Debora shared.

 

Ha Long Bay, Ninh Binh and Quang Binh in Viet Nam have been selected for important scenes of the blockbuster movie “Kong – Skull Island”. The widespread influence of this movie will provide an opportunity to promote Viet Nam tourism to the world.

According to the Department of International Cooperation under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST). The filming will take place in nearly two-month period at famous tourist destinations of Viet Nam such as Phong Nha (Quang Binh), Trang An Landscape Complex, Van Long Lagoon, Tam Coc (Ninh Binh) and Ha Long Bay.

Speaking at the press conference organized on 21 February in Ha Noi, the movie’s director-Jordan Vogt Roberts informed that he selected Viet Nam’s landscapes for the movie because of surrealistically beautiful sights, caves and mountain ranges. The filmmakers hoped to bring unique and impressive images of Viet Nam to audiences, which would inspire them to visit the places after watching movie.

“Kong- Skull Island” is the first Hollywood’s blockbuster movie licensed to film in Viet Nam. Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Vuong Duy Bien said that the filmmakers had carefully considered and selected scenes suitable with the movie’s idea. When the film crew suggested to cooperate with Viet Nam, MoCST supported them to solve difficulties and connect with relevant ministries and localities.

Bien emphasized that the film crew must comply with Viet Nam’s regulations to protect environment at the sites. He hoped that Viet Nam could become a film studio for the world cinema in the future due to its beautiful natural sites, the hospitality of locals and favorable conditions.

He also believed that Viet Nam’s image will appear stunningly on the movie Kong- Skull Island for audiences all over the world. It will certainly trigger an influx of visitors to Viet Nam.

Kong- Skull Island filming in Viet Nam will be the first step to lure more Hollywood’s blockbuster movie projects, which is a great opportunity for Viet Nam to popularize the beauty of the country to the world.

THE CHINESE BOTANIST’S DAUGHTERS

Launched in 2006, “The Chinese Botanist’s Daughters” won prizes at the World Film Festival Montreal and Toronto.

 

Tam Coc – Bich Dong is the context of the film. Friendly photos, rolling mountain forests of Ninh Binh has contributed to a tragic love between An and Ming. In addition to Ninh Binh, the film also was filmed in Sapa, Ha Tay.

THE QUIET AMERICAN

Adapted from the famous novel by British writer Graham Greene, the film’s a story about a love triangle between Thomas Flowler, Pyle and Phoenix. The context is Indochina wars in the final stages.

The film was shot around the S-shaped strip of land, from Ha Noi, Ninh Binh, Hoi An, Da Nang to Sai Gon. The Director Dang Nhat Minh once said, “ The Quiet American has great scenes of Hanoi and Hoi An”.

INDOCHINA

“Indochina” is a 1992 French film set in colonial French Indochina during the 1930s to 1950s shot in Viet Nam. The film won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 65th Academy Awards. Catherine Deneuve was also nominated for the best actress. This is the only Oscar nomination of Catherine Deneuve’s career to date.

Indochina has some scenes in Halong Bay, Thai Hoa Palace of Hue Citadel, Tu Duc Mausoleum (Hue), Tam Coc Caves in Ninh Binh flange.

LOVER

Adapted from the novel of the same name, directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud. The film told the story of the forbidden between a underage French girl with a wealthy Chinese boss.

Shot in 1989 and completed in 1990, this is the first film shot in Western Vietnam since 1975. In late 1991, Lover was released in Ho Chi Minh city. Viet Nam is the first country to watch the film.

Since being launched, the film has received good response from the audiences and filmmakers. The film won the Cesar Award and the Association of cinema sound editor.

According to the Provincial People’s Committee, they allowed the JUNGLE BOSS to open a survey tour to Tra Ang cave – Hamad valley for visitors in three months. The tour is about ecotourism in combining with caves, having bath in the stream, visiting natural landscapes.

The purpose of the tour is to make more diverse in Nation Park and tourism products, contribute to meeting demands of  discovering the heritage’s unique values.

Reportedly, the valley “Hamad”, at km27 of Ho Chi Minh west branch trail, is featured for its beatuty of natural landscapes and a diverse vegetational cover with high biological diversity.
The Tra Ang cave, at km17 of 20 Victory Road, was discovered in 2014 by British Cave Research Association with 650m deep.
The cave is green and cool with underground system, includes stalacties with various colorful shapes. It collects water from Va cave, Son Doong cave (the largest cave in the world) and
swallow cave to pour into Tra Ang stream with over 4km long.

A sailing performance featuring 13 European-style catamarans and a number of social activities will be held soon at a beach in Quang Binh Province.

The event, the first of its kind in the province, runs from July 13 to 20 at the Nhat Le Beach in Dong Hoi City.

Organised by the province’s tourism association in an effort to bring visitors a new, positive tourism image after a number of environmental incidents, the performance will also include several engaging activities.

Participants will be able to partake in a simulation tour which allows them to be a sailor, or watch the parade of sail from the lighthouse to the Quan Hau Bridge.

The European-style catamarans, featuring a four-meter mast and measuring three meters in length, have been transported to Quang Binh from Vung Tau City.

According to local authorities, following the inaugural edition, the event is expected to be held annually with the aim of attracting more tourists to Quang Binh.

In early May, a first-ever sailboat race also took place on Phu Quoc Island off Kien Giang Province as part of the activities to celebrate the 2016 National Tourism Year.

Quang Binh People’s Committee on June 22 announced that up to 57 new caves had been found in the locality over the past month.

A 13-person team, including members of the British Cave Research Association, forest rangers of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park and experts from Vietnam National University, Hanoi took part in the exploration.

According to Howard Limbert from the British Cave Research Association, the caves are located in 14 different areas in Quang Binh Province, with the majority in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. “The team had to spend eight days in forests with very a harsh weather condition to find the caves,” he said.

Among the new caves, the largest is Hoa Huong which is named after a local couple’s name who helped to discover it. Hoa Huong measures some 2,876 metres long and is around 5 million years old, the oldest among caves found in Quang Binh so far.

Limbert said that previously Hoa Huong cave was situated below a big lake, but now, the lake has become dried and the water may only return during the rainy season. This is also the first cave detected under the water in Quang Binh.

Since 1990, Libert and experts from the British Cave Research Association has conducted several explorations in Quang Binh Province. To date, they have discovered 311 caves, including many becoming famous tourist sites such as Soon Dong and Hang Va and Nuoc Nut.

Libert said that his team will continue their explorations in Quang Binh in early 2017.

1, Son Doong cave, Vietnam

Son Doong cave is located in  Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Tan Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province. The cave is the largest natural cave in the world. The cave is a part of the underground system with more than 150 other connections in Vietnam near the border with Laos. The New York Times ranked Son Doong cave in 8th of 52 places you should visit in 2014.

Son Doong cave is very large with a length of at least 5 km, the equivalent capacity of 68 Boeing 777 aircraft. Even this figure may be larger.  According to scientists, today the most modern facilities has not fully explored the real length of this cave.

Not only the enormous size, Son Doong cave is also famous for a variety of biological landscape. In the Son Doong cave, explorers discovered a primitive forests with rich vegetation. There wasn’t human traces inside. Experts have called the forest  in this cave “the Garden of Eden” to express the beauty of this aesthetic.

2, The gate of hell, Turkmenistan

Darvaza Crater is also known as the gate of hell with the giant fireplace. In 1971, the geologists drilled to a gas bag filled with methane. To avoid poisonous gas leakage, they decided to burn it and hoped the gas would run out within a few weeks. However, until now the flames are still burning here and never turn off.

3, Troll’s Tongue , Norway

Trolltunga is famous for Troll’s Tongue, a ledge jutting out at an altitude of 700 meters in the Ringedalsvatnet lake. Scientists believe that this rock was generated about 10,000 years due to the disintegration of the large rock.

4, Stairs to Heaven, Oahu, Hawaii

Haiku is popular for “Stairs to Heaven”. It was built in the 1940s as a part of the communications network of the US during the World War 2. From here, visitors can watch the pretty scenery, Oahu . However, recently the storm has damaged stairs, so it isn’t used  any longer.

5, Devil’s pool , Zimbabwe and Zambia

This is a small lake located on the  Victoria Falls border between two African countries. It is at an altitude of 108 meters. The guests can take a dip and enjoy the interesting feeling, “suffocation” on the banks of the falls.

6, The cliff, Moher, Ireland

The cliffs can reach more than 200 meters high above the Atlantic Ocean at Hag’s Head. This is one of the attractions of Ireland and visitors can admire but not necessarily on the edge of the cliff cycling.

7, Mendenhall Ice Caves, Alaska, United states

This cave is located in the glacier with 19 km length at Mendenhall Valley. It is accessible by kayak. A new study says that the glacier was shortened more than 3 m in 1958 because of the warming of the earth.

8, The Kjeragbolten rock, Rogaland, Norway

This famous rock is situated at an altitude of 984 m. The rock is the favourite place for tourists who love adventure in the world  taking pictures but they will have to go through a long journey about 1,000 m mountain road.

9, “Swings in the end of the world”, Ecuador

Swinging in seismic monitoring stations in Ecuador is considered one of the most dangerous games in the world. Here, visitors swing up while the bottom is a scary canyon.

10, Neptune Islands, Australia

Since 2002, this is the only place in Australia licensed for shark cage diving. Thus, visitors will have the opportunity to come closer to white sharks. However, you should make sure your hands and feet are always in the cage.
