Among  the 57 new caves announced by the experts , Hang Tien 2 is considered a  beautiful cave. This cave has been licensed for tourism by the Quang Binh Provincial government  in early July  2016.

(22/6/2016)Today, Mr Howard Limbert , the cave expert announced 57 recently discovered caves in Quang Binh. Among these caves, the British cave expert  evaluates Hang Tien’s  potential  position.

Along with Hang Tien 1, Hang Tien 2 is called ” anonymous Paradise ” in  mountainous region, Cao Quang (Tuyen Hoa district) bordering Tan Hoa (Minh Hoa district). This is the last cave of Tu Lan cave system, located outside the national park of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, which is known as the Kingdom of the cave.

Hang Tien 2 is 2,519 meters in length. The cave has the deepest place about 94 m above the ground. There is a nice stream outside the cave. Its mouth is about 3 meters high but only 1.5 meters wide. The most prominent feature of Hang Tien 2 is the border (on) on the ceiling of mysterious rock . The main arch of the cave is about 400 meters long , about 30 meters high. Tien Cave Tien Cave 2 and 1 are both dry caves, a stream just created in the flood season. The cave’s ceiling is with countless colorful paintings. Many sections have walls with beautiful stalactites. The stalactite is formed from hundreds of years with many shapes makes up the beauty of the cave. Because the cave’s natural beauty is so rare , It is named Hang Tien – Fairy Cave, associated with the legend, “The fairy down to earth”.

Previously, the local people explored Hang Tien 1 and 2 but they don’t have any specialized agency surveyed before. In 1994, the British Caving Association made a survey this cave for the first time . Last March, the cave experts  continued to discover  the entire length and width of this cave as well as made specific plans on tour operators, submit them to  the People’s Committee of Quang Binh province.

On the same day with the announcement of 57 recently discovered caves in Quang Binh, the provincial People’s Committee allowed the Oxalis company  open  tours, taking tourists to the Hang Tien 1 and 2 according to the tour experience (1 day), exploring (2 days) and exploring the cave system with Tu Lan (5 days).

Mr Chau A – the CEO of Oxalis company  said that “Hang Tien 2 will officially welcome guests from the beginning of July. The tour will have the number of tourists from 8-20 people.

Cave expert and explorer Howard Limbert, tells us more about his fascinating career which has included mapping 300km of caves in Vietnam

Howard spends a lot of time in Phong Nha National Park, located in the northwest of Vietnam, close to the border with Laos. It’s home to the planet’s largest deposit of limestone and contains some the world’s most magnificent caves, perfect for exploring.

How did your interest in caving start?

I started caving while at school. It was a choice of cross-country running or outdoor activities, which included caving, climbing and sailing – an easy decision!

How long have you been caving in Vietnam?

Our British team has been exploring caves in Vietnam since 1990 and our next big expedition is in early 2014. Our team is very experienced and we have had a lot of success in exploration over the last few years.

What has been your caving highlight?

There are many to choose from but I’d probably say leading an exploration of Hang Son Doong with the British Cave Research Association in 2009/10. The cave had been discovered by a local man back in 1991 but it was the first time it had been properly surveyed. It is quite exciting that even today it is possible to find a new wonder of the world.

What makes Hang Son Doong so special?

Its scale and beauty – it is a staggering 200 metres wide, 150 metres high and 9 kilometres long.

When you find a cave which hasn’t been explored, what typically happens?

Usually we are in teams of three or four. One person will take measurements, the others will find the way through and photograph the cave. We often go into the jungle or caves for a week at a time. Underground camps are set up to enable us to go further into the cave.

Why is Phong Nha so special for caving?

Quite simply it has the best caves in the world owing to the quality of the limestone and the high rainfall. It has the largest cave in the world, the longest underground river in the world and is also part of the largest single block of limestone in the world.

Aside from caves, what else does the area have to offer?

Jungle walks and treks, kayaking and mountain biking are just a few other attractions that can be found in the park. A lot of people really like to mix walking in the jungle with some easy caving to experience jungle life.

What impact has tourism had on the area?

Until recently the village had poor roads and no electricity. Paradise Cave at Phong Nha – ideal for adventurous souls to explore This has changed now and tourism has certainly played a major part in that improvement.

How do you help?

Our aim is to give more local people jobs assisting visitors in the caves and jungles of Phong Nha. It was once a very poor province and now over 2,000 people are employed because of the caves and national park.

What’s next?

Our guides often tell me of new caves they have found in the jungle. In the next few weeks we’re off to see them. Life is never dull over here! Guided trips into Phong Nha, Paradise and Dark Cave can be organised. The region is reached with flights from Dong Hoi, Hanoi or Saigon.

Quang Binh People’s Committee on June 22 announced that up to 57 new caves had been found in the locality over the past month.

A 13-person team, including members of the British Cave Research Association, forest rangers of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park and experts from Vietnam National University, Hanoi took part in the exploration.

One among the 57 newly-detected caves in Quang Binh

According to Howard Limbert from the British Cave Research Association, the caves are located in 14 different areas in Quang Binh Province, with the majority in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. “The team had to spend eight days in forests with very a harsh weather condition to find the caves,” he said.

Among the new caves, the largest is Hoa Huong which is named after a local couple’s name who helped to discover it. Hoa Huong measures some 2,876 metres long and is around 5 million years old, the oldest among caves found in Quang Binh so far.

Limbert said that previously Hoa Huong cave was situated below a big lake, but now, the lake has become dried and the water may only return during the rainy season. This is also the first cave detected under the water in Quang Binh.

Since 1990, Libert and experts from the British Cave Research Association has conducted several explorations in Quang Binh Province. To date, they have discovered 311 caves, including many becoming famous tourist sites such as Soon Dong and Hang Va and Nuoc Nut.

Libert said that his team will continue their explorations in Quang Binh in early 2017.

From early June 2016, Quang Binh province has more two tours “discovering caves” Paradise cave  7000m – Heaven well adventure  and  the Hang Va and Nuoc Nut cave tour.

“Through this trip, the ambassadors will help Quang Binh in the promotion of tourism and introduce many visiters to the province …” – Mr Dung said.

Mrs Camilla Mellander, the Ambassador of Sweden in Vietnam, said: “I only know information about Son Doong through the media and once wanted to visit. So, taking part in the tour “’Conquering Son Doong – Caves the world’s largest” ‘is a very exciting experience for me. I am impressed with the preservation and exploitation of natural world Heritage Site of Phong Nha-Ke Bang in Quang Binh province. It determines that the province Quang Binh doesn’t  pursue profits. Quang Binh limits the number of visitors and the human impacts on the world’s largest cave Son Doong … ”

If you want to make sure your trip is not affected, follow the weather forecast regularly before booking air tickets, train tickets. Then you should visit Quang Binh to travel around 20/3 – 30/9. Especially, tourists can swim on the beach in Dong Hoi between late April to mid-May

2, How to get Quang Binh ?

ve-may-bay-phu-quoc-ha-noi-cua-vietnam-airlines-03

By Plane (Airlines, Jetstar, Vietjet Air)

From Ha Noi city:

In February of 2016, VIETNAM AIRLINES started to use the Airbus A321 with more space (168 seats) operates on: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. And ATR72 (68 seats) for the remaining days of the week with a total of 7 flights / a week.

From 2015, JETSTAR has opened  routes from Hanoi to Dong Hoi and back with ticket prices ranging from 1,250,000 to 2,500,000 VND /a ticket, depending on sooner or later you book. But at this stage flight, the frequency is not much, so you have to pay special attention to check directly on its website.

From Ho Chi Minh city:

In early 2015, there are two companies: Vietjet Air (flight from 29/04/2015) and  Jetstar opening routes from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Hoi about 1h30 minutes flight time. You want to buy tickets, you should book directly on its website or jetstar.com or vietnamairlines.com vietjetair.com

Vietjet Air: Economy Class tickets average about 399,000 VND and about 2,790,000 VND Business Class. The fly flighting to Dong Hoi is rarely delayed.

Jetstar: The price is from 730,000 VND to 1,470,000 VND. It is higher than the Vietjet’s price and specially the Vietjet is delayed more.

Vietnam Airlines: The price is from 600.000 VND to 1.150.000 VND. If you book late, The price maybe to 1.900.000 VND

If you want to get to Quang Binh from nearby provinces such as Hue, Da Nang…There are two means following:

du-lich-quang-binh-ve-tau-dong-hoi-ha-noi-tphcm

By Train

Travelling by train is the tourist’s favorite mean. Because this mean is useful, safeful and convenient. But the train often comes late but also within acceptable levels.

Approximately 522km from Hanoi to stay on board for more than 10 hours is to Dong Hoi. The sleeper’s fares is about 505,000 VND and soft sitting tickets around 309,000 VND, from Thanh Hoa If you want to Quang Binh and Vinh also can use this following ship.

From Hue (about 160km) it takes you 3 hours to Dong Hoi. And from Da nang (about 270km) it takes you  6 hours to get to Dong Hoi.

Applying for the peak season From Ho Chi Minh city, the air tickets to Dong Hoi are usually very high and cheap tickets are sold quickly. So the best advice to save time and costs, you should go by plane to Vinh or to Da Nang, Hue and then go by train as above. In case you’re lucky enough to get cheap tickets, flying straight to Dong Hoi by Airport is still better.

After boiling, people here dry it under the sun for 10 to 12 times, the flexibility of the potatoes is resulted from the number of dry times. Local people here also called it “Sâm đất” due to its shapes.

*   At Dong Hoi market, you can find them.

d,Vietnamese Crepes Quang Hoa (Bánh Xèo Quảng Hòa)

we have to say about Vietnamese Crepes Quang Hoa (Bánh Xèo Quảng Hòa). The crepe is made from red rice (raw rice or gạo lức) and quite simple to cook but need to have all its side dishes: snakehead fish, musa balbisiana (a type of wild bananas), vegetables, dry pancake and fish sauce. The vegetables must have bean sprouts and sesame.
