Vo Nguyen Giap General is a hero, a leader with great prestige of Vietnamese nation, a military genius honoured and admired by the world. His life was associated with the cause of national liberation of the Party and Ho Chi Minh President. He directly commanded many major campaigns, including the 1954 Dien Bien Phu campaign that “glorified the five continents, shaking the globe.”, completely smashed the aggression of the French colonialists and the United States intervention, forcing them to sign the Gio-ne-vo Agreement, ending the war in Indochina, opening a new era for the revolutions of Viet Nam, Laos and Cambodia and was the beginning of the collapse of old colonialism on a worldwide scale.
General Vo Nguyen Giap’s memorial house is the house where the General Vo Nguyen Giap was born and raised. It is a wooden house with 3 compartments, 2 wings located in the middle of a garden with many green trees in An Xa village, Loc Thuy commune, Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province. Since many years now, the house has become an extremely close and friendly destination for compatriots, soldiers nationwide as well as young generation to visit or light a memorial incense to remember the merits of Vo Nguyen Giap General.
In that house, three generations have sacrificed themselves for the national liberation revolution. This is also the place where Vo Nguyen Giap General was born and had childhood memories and the place the communist soldier’s patriotism was forged. The Vo Nguyen Giap General once said: “Homeland and family are the places where my will and personality are molded and my path is determined.”
